Bolgheri and the wines

Bolgheri territory is one of the most beautiful and suggestive in Tuscany. The charm of a thousand-year history, back to Medio Evo till the magnificence of Etruscan civilization, combines with the beauty of rural countryside moulded by the farmers over the years. Their knowledge made this area today, one of the most prestigious wine production place in the world.

Aside the country roads winding around Bolgheri there are vineyards as far as the eye could see and here, some of the most famous Bolgheri wines are produced: Ornellaia, Sassicaia, Antinori, Terre del Marchesato and many more other excellent wines all of them bringing the Bolgheri DOC designation.

The surrounding and the unspoiled nature will surprise you after any corner. It is worth of a special mention the centenary cypress-tree Bolgheri road, which is departing from Aurelia road and brings you till Bolgheri Castle gate, the main entrance to the hamlet.

Coming into the town through the castle gateway, you will be welcomed by the lovely small Church dedicated to the Saints Giacomo and Cristoforo. The chapel represents only the first step of an emotional journey amongst picturesque panoramic glimpse and historic-architectural beauties with the house and museum dedicated to the poet Giosuè Carducci or the San Guido Oratory. Small artisan shops, boutiques, bistros, and restaurants, will spoil you with delicious local produce, excellent wines and tasty food.
